Oh Hey, Chateau!

What a fun wine this was! Is? It still exists- anyway…

This French beauty comes from Benjamin Darnault and is his take on this Grenache-style wine. I honestly wish I had another bottle of this to lay down for a few years and see where it goes. This was 2022, so a bit young but all of the flavor points were there. Raspberry, spice and easy tanins. Market price on this is well over $50.00. We paid about half that.

Young wines tend to have such high tanins the astrigent is hard to handle. This was not the case here. Very drinkable and rather smooth. I wrote in my notes I picked up on currant taste as well. We paired it with charcuterie type snacks. I think it would hold its own with pasta, steak or even heavier red sauces.

Lovely wine. I regret not having more. Maybe next time! Cheers!
